In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes.
When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed
firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase......... "goodnight, sleep&nbsp tight."

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a
month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-
law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and
because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the
honey&nbsp month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old
England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them
"Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down." It's where we get the
phrase "mind your P's and Q's"

Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into
the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a
refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your
whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice.

Don't delete this just because it looks weird. Believe it or not,
you can read it..........

2007 New Words

NEW WORDS FOR 2007
&nbsp
&nbsp
* SWAMP-DONKEY - A deeply unattractive person.
&nbsp
* TESTICULATING - Waving your arms around and talking bollocks.

* BLAMESTORMING. - Sitting round in a group, discussing why a deadline was missed or a Project failed and who was responsible.
&nbsp
* SEAGULL MANAGER - A manager who flies in, makes a lot of noise, craps on everything and then leaves.
&nbsp
* ASSMOSIS - The process by which people seem to absorb success and advancement by sucking up to the boss rather than working hard.
&nbsp
* SALMON DAY - The experience of spending an entire day swimming upstream only to get screwed and die.
&nbsp
* CUBE FARM - An office filled with cubicles.
&nbsp
* PRAIRIE DOGGING - When someone yells or drops something loudly in a cube farm, and people's heads pop up over the walls to see what's going on.
(This also applies to applause for a promotion because there may be cake.)

* SITCOM's - Single Income, Two Children, Oppressive Mortgage. What yuppies turn into when they have children and one of them stops working to stay home with the kids or start a "home business".

* SINBAD - Single working girls. Single income, no boyfriend and desperate.

* AEROPLANE BLONDE - One who has bleached/dyed her hair but still has a 'black box'.

* PERCUSSIVE MAINTENANCE - The fine art of whacking the crap out of an electronic device to get it to work again.

* ADMINISPHERE - The rarefied organizational layers beginning just above the rank and file.
Decisions that fall from the "adminisphere" are often profoundly inappropriate or irrelevant to the problems they were designed to solve.
This is often affiliated with the dreaded "administrivia" - needless paperwork and processes.

* GOING FOR A McSHIT - Entering a fast food restaurant with no intention of buying food, you're just going to the bog. If challenged by a pimply staff member, your declaration to them that you'll buy their food afterwards is known as a McShit with Lies.
* 404 - Someone who's clueless. From the World Wide Web error message "404 Not Found" meaning that the requested document could not be located.

* AUSSIE KISS - Similar to a French Kiss, but given down under.

* OH-NO SECOND - That minuscule fraction of time in which you realize that you've just made a BIG mistake (e.g. you've hit 'reply all').
* GREYHOUND - A very short skirt, only an inch from the hare.
&nbsp
* JOHNNY-NO-STARS - A young man of substandard intelligence, the typical adolescent who works in a burger restaurant.
The 'no-stars' comes from the badges displaying&nbsp stars that staff at fast-food restaurants often wear to show their level of training.

* MILLENNIUM DOMES - The contents of a Wonderbra, i.e. extremely impressive when viewed&nbsp from the outside, but there's actually nothing&nbsp in there worth seeing.
&nbsp
* SALAD DODGER - A phrase for an overweight person.
&nbsp
* MONKEY BATH - A bath so hot, that when lowering yourself in, you go: "Oo! Oo! Oo! Aa!Aa! Aa!".
&nbsp
* MYSTERY BUS - The bus that arrives at the pub on Friday night while you're in the toilet after your 10th pint, and whisks away all the unattractive people so the pub is suddenly packed with stunners when you come back in.

* MYSTERY TAXI - The taxi that arrives at your place on Saturday morning before you wake up, whisks away the stunner you slept with, and leaves a 10-Pinter in your bed instead.
&nbsp
* BEER COAT - The invisible but warm coat worn when walking home after a booze cruise at 3:00am.
&nbsp
* BEER COMPASS - The invisible device that ensures your safe arrival home after booze cruise, even though you're too drunk to remember where you live, how you got here, and where you've come from.

Every day, a male co worker walks up very close to a lady standing at
the coffee machine, inhales a deep breath of air and tells her that her
hair smells nice.

After a week of this, she can't stand it anymore and takes her complaint
to a supervisor in the personnel department and asks to file a complaint

The Human Resources supervisor is puzzled and asks,"What's sexually
threatening about a co worker telling you your hair smells nice?"

The woman replies, "It's Keith.........the midget."

KIDS&nbsp IN CHURCH

3-year-old&nbsp Reese:

"Our&nbsp Father, Who does art in heaven,

Harold&nbsp is His name.

Amen."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A&nbsp little boy was overheard praying:
"Lord,&nbsp if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm&nbsp having a real good time like I am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After&nbsp the christening of his baby brother in church,

Jason&nbsp sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.

His&nbsp father asked him three times what was wrong.

Finally,&nbsp the boy replied,

"That&nbsp preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home,

and&nbsp I wanted to stay with you guys."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One&nbsp particular four-year-old prayed,
"And&nbsp forgive us our trash baskets
as&nbsp we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A&nbsp Sunday school teacher asked her children as they

were&nbsp on the way to church service,

"And&nbsp why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"

One&nbsp bright little girl replied,

"Because&nbsp people are sleeping."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A&nbsp mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The&nbsp boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their&nbsp mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson.
"If&nbsp Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let&nbsp my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin&nbsp turned to his younger brother and said,
"Ryan,&nbsp you be Jesus!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A&nbsp father was at the beach with his children

when&nbsp the four-year-old son ran up to him,

grabbed&nbsp his hand, and led him to the shore

where&nbsp a seagull lay dead in the sand.

"Daddy,&nbsp what happened to him?" the son asked.

"He&nbsp died and went to Heaven," the Dad replied.

The&nbsp boy thought a moment and then said,

"Did&nbsp God throw him back down?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A&nbsp wife invited some people to dinner.
At&nbsp the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said,
"Would&nbsp you like to say the blessing?"
"I&nbsp wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied.
"Just&nbsp say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered.
The&nbsp daughter bowed her head and said,
"Lord,&nbsp why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

&nbsp

Part #2: Sweet&nbsp Innocence

&nbsp

It was the day AFTER Christmas at a&nbsp church.
The pastor of the church was looking at the
manger scene, when he noticed that the baby
Jesus figure was missing from the cradle.

He immediately turned and went outside and
saw a little boy with a red wagon walking down
the street.

And in the wagon, was the figure of the&nbsp infant Jesus.
So he walked up to the boy and said, "Son,
where did you get that little baby Jesus that's in
your wagon?"

The little boy replied, "I got him from&nbsp the church."
And why did you take him?" asked the&nbsp pastor.

The little boy replied, "Well, about a&nbsp week
before Christmas, I prayed and&nbsp I told Jesus if he
would bring me a red wagon for Christmas, I
would give him a ride in it!"
